Swiss Labour Assistanceis an international humanitarian Swiss non governmental organisation
funded in 1936 and focused on the empowerment of the Trade Union and on
fulfilling people most important needs. Swiss Labour Assistanceis currently working in Padang
Pariaman District (Nagari Sicincin) – West Sumatra for supporting the most affected communities by the Earthquake September
30th, 2009. For the new Training Project in which SLA will
train 120 workers to build earthquake resistance permanent structures and to
train approx 2.300 households in general DRR, SLA is seeking for motivated and
experienced candidates to fill the positions of:

The Field Assistantwill
be responsible in assisting and supporting the whole project in the Nagari Sicincin and the respective
Korongs (villages) for the most vulnerable. In addition he/shewill provide field inputs for the smooth
implementation. He will assist the Field Officerregarding local beneficiary mobilisation and representation towards
other agencies, local authorities. The position shall help to ensure the
effective implementation, monitoring and reporting of the project according to
the general principles, standards and guidelines of SLA.

Duties and Responsibilities:
successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasksthe summary
tasks as follow:
Management:Responsi ble for countable beneficiary selection
according to the SLA standards of “most vulnerable” and according to the
project documents. To support the Field Officerfor the whole projectthrough community mobilisation in the respective field, such as
gathering the respective audience for trainings, distribution of material and
awareness events.Coordination and Communication: to coordinate and communicate all activities closely
with the line Field
Officerand local government in the project area to ensure
the full integration of these activities.To assist the Field Officer in managing general visits, including media, and information requests
(e.g. interviews and pictures).Administr ation:to support the smooth functioning of the project related
administration, logistic and transport in coordination with the Field Officer.Reporting: to prepare by-weekly progress reports and ensure adherence to a regular
reporting structure.Surveys and Data Collection:to assist the Field Officerto manage the collection of data and to conduction of surveys (e.g.
beneficiary analyse, baseline surveys, do-no-harm surveys etc.).

and Skills Required:
* University degree in any majors
* At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in similar position
* Basic computer and typing skills; Email, Excel and Word
* Good communications skills, including negotiation skill Good interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for beneficiaries
* Candidates from Padang Pariaman area are preferable
* Honest, responsible, self motivated and able to take initiative under minimum supervision
* Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team in a cross cultural environment
* Able to negotiate and to clarify expectations of both the beneficiaries and team
* Fluent in English and Bahasa Minang
* Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work both independently and cooperatively with team members
* Integrity, motivation for humanitarian work and experience with INGO will be considerate
* he/she should be familiar with the region/project area
* Achiever, persistent, honest, reliable and results oriented, flexibility and honesty
