Description/Announcement

Search for Common Ground’s
(SFCG) mission is to transform how individuals, organizations and governments
deal with conflict – away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative
solutions.  With headquarters in
Washington, DC and Brussels, we design and implement multifaceted programs that
aim to resolve conflict and prevent violence. We seek to help conflicting
parties to understand their differences and act on their commonalities.

Summary of Post

The
Partners in Humanity program works to promote vibrant, constructive Muslim-Western
relations. Our flagship project, the Common Ground News Service (CGNews), seeks
to promote mutual understanding and offer hope, opportunities for dialogue and
constructive suggestions that facilitate peaceful resolution of conflict by
publishing and promoting articles by local and international experts in several
languages.

Bahasa
Indonesia Editor/Programme Coordinator
reports to the Assistant Director of Partners in Humanity, who is based in Washington,
DC.  The position includes two main
categories of responsibilities:

1-      Common
Ground News Service (CGNews) Indonesian Editor:

a.       Hire
(as necessary) and manage Indonesian translator(s) and back-up editor

b.      Edit weekly
Bahasa Indonesia edition of CGNews-Partners in Humanity

c.       Commission
articles from South East Asia (SEA) civil society, government officials, writers,
economists, academics, media etc on a weekly basis

d.      Actively
place articles in SEA media (English and Bahasa Indonesia)

e.       Maintain
SEA subscriber list with an eye to growing SEA subscribers

f.       Advise
the team on topics in SEA of relevance to Muslim-Western understanding (and
commission on such topics as appropriate)

g.      Provide
input on all CGNews articles as a member of the 7-person editorial board

2-      Partners
in Humanity (PiH) Programme
Coordinator

a.       Contribute
to PiH programme development in South East Asia  – identify and research opportunities/needs
for greater Muslim-Western understanding for consideration internally

b.      Assist
in the planning, implementing and measuring PiH projects implemented in
SEA  – may include event planning,
conference logistics, outreach to trainers, partners and/or participants, and
other responsibilities depending on the nature of the project(s)

c.       Liaise
between the PiH and SFCG-Indonesia programmes

d.      Contribute
actively to the Indonesia programme as needed (attend team meetings, provide
programme support, etc) under the supervision of the country director

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the
position-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in
line with the above key duties.

Skills & Experience

Essential

·
A
Masters’ degree, or 4 years related experience, in fields such as political
science, conflict resolution, international affairs, sociology, or journalism

·
3+
years professional editing and project coordination experience

·
Working knowledge of
conflict resolution methodologies

·
Exceptional
English-language writing, reading and speaking abilities

·
Exceptional
Bahasa Indonesia writing, reading and speaking abilities

·
Experience
working with a large network of Indonesian and other SEA media, civil society
and mainstream religious associations

·
Ability
to prioritize and handle several projects at once

·
Sound
organizational skills, with great attention to detail required

·
Ability
to meet objectives under deadline pressure

·
Requires
flexibility in daily schedule to include occasional extended hours as needed,
including some evenings and weekends in order to communicate with colleagues in
North America

·
Highly motivated and
energetic

·
Proven entrepreneurial and
self-starter abilities

·
High competence in office
and networking software (word processing, spreadsheets, skype, databases, etc) as this
position requires the ability to communicate effectively through a variety of tools.

Desirable

Experience
in the international NGO arena, with multi-national teamPrint
media editing/writing experience

Salary:  Commensurate with experience and education

Hmmm...people said that i've vicious/anger face but if u know me, i'm type of friendly person,lil bit crazy and sensitive person..that's me...I like everything about technology coz my educational background is in IT...hmm...actually i like listening music, watching movies, browsing internet, make some comment @friend's facebook status also wrote some unsignificant words, but for me it's quite interesting. Others i like to breath, laugh and smile...whatever u are, if u want to know me..just call me ratih...ok (^_')
